Events

‘Scorching Events’ – our most well known events include:

Contact Scorching Triathlons

  • Scorchign Triathlon LogoHeld from November to March
  • Are based primarily from Scorching Bay, Wellington, New Zealand
  • Include multiple triathlon and duathlon event options (from short, medium and long or for those who like tri jargon…our events include Sprint Distance and Olympic Standard distance)

Scorching Open Water

  • Scorching Open WaterHeld from November to March
  • Are based primarily from Scorching Bay, Wellington, New Zealand
  • Are open water swims over 500m, 1k & 2k distances
  • Are held in conjunction with the Contact Scorching Triathlons
  • Are held on a safe and sheltered multi lap swim course within the confines of Scorching Bay

Scorching Duathlons

  • Held over the winter months of May to October
  • Are held throughout the Wellington region (New Zealand)
  • Was the flagship event for ‘Scorching Events’ with the first one held back 2003
  • Includes a sweet course out in Upper Hutt which we use for our Fathers Day event (held on Fathers Day every September)

Other Scorching related / associated events include:

College Sport Wellington Triathlon Champs

  • Scheduled forĀ  Thursday 10 March 2010 @ Scorching Bay
  • Open to all secondary schools in the greater wellington region
  • Has been run yearly by Angel (Daryl) since 2004

Activation Duathlons

  • Based in Upper Hutt (Trentham Memorial Park)
  • Held in the later half of the winter period (July / Aug / Sept)
  • Started in 2007
  • Run by the Scorcher Crew in conjunction with the Upper Hutt City Council Activation Team
  • Are ‘feeder’ events for the Upper Hutt Scorching Duathlon
  • Are held on a safe multi lap courses (majority of the course is inside the park boundaries
  • attracts a very local following
  • Has options for ages 5 – 99 (the kids options are completely contained within the park)
